THE LIGHTHOUSE METHOD

“The people living in the darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

Lighthouses are magnificent, aren't they? I have always been drawn to them. Visually because of their beauty but even more so because of what they represent symbolically. They are a tower, a beacon, a shining light to those lost at sea. They are a searchlight to show one where to go, and they can illuminate the way for one who has fallen off course or one who may not even know they have drifted toward the rocks.

Lighthouses are unwavering, standing tall in the confidence that darkness cannot overcome them simply because they exist. They seem to know that even though the night is coming, the ones who feel lost will always be found by the light they carry.

When I was lost at sea years ago-- not the literal sea but a sea of brokenness-- this is where I discovered the principles of The Lighthouse Method. Applying these principles to my life saved me, empowered me, allowed me to shine my brightest once again, and now I can lead others to do the same. You Prepare to Rise Up by casting the vision for healing, committing to taking regular actions to stay healthy, honoring your emotions, fighting to reclaim your life, and borrowing another’s light if you absolutely cannot find your own.

You Become a Prism by being transparent and purified, where the impurities in your life are extracted. This allows light to pass through you and out into the world around you.

When you Have the Right Support System, your light can pierce the night. Just as a light in a lighthouse cannot shine without proper support, you cannot shine without the right people around you or the Holy Spirit inside of you to give you the ability to shine like you have the potential to do.

You Bend Your Light and Shine when you change direction. As light passes through a lens in a lighthouse, the light bends, and the light rays unify in the same direction. This is known as refraction. After you become a prism and light can pass through you, your light will change direction! You will change direction.

When you Find Harbor and Become It, you will rise up out of the waters of depression, anxiety, and fear and courageously take your steps to reach the shore. Once there, you will turn around and plant your feet in the sand. With eyes roaming the horizon, you will know it is your turn to rescue another lost mariner and bring them home.

I plan to unpack each of these steps in more depth in future posts. Today Is merely a glimpse of The Lighthouse Method and its 5 steps.

My Promise To You

If you take these truths to heart—

If you let them marinate in your innermost being—

You will rise again.
